About Connie LAwson
I was born and raised mainly in Seattle, WA, but my love for adventure and travel developed through spending every summer of my childhood in a small town in Germany. I grew up in a bilingual, multicultural home, where I learned to navigate the complexity of having a parent who had to learn to assimilate to American culture.
After having traveled and lived abroad for several years, I moved back to Seattle and completed my Bachelor’s at the University of Washington. During that time, I also began to work as an addiction specialist in downtown Seattle, supporting clients who were struggling with complex trauma and substance use. This work allowed me to reflect on how I can support and advocate for my clients when addressing the systemic structures that create disparities and barriers for them on numerous levels.
In 2020, I earned my Masters in Arts from the University of WA, specializing in Applied Child and Adolescent Psychology, and interned at the Seattle Children's Hospital ADHD Psychiatry Clinic. I have since been working as a therapist with families, adolescents and adults in the community as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (MC61048933/Pending Licensed Mental Health Counselor LMHC LH61305026).
I live in Seattle with my partner and my two young children. My role as a community-based provider has allowed me to work with clients across age ranges, experiences, and diagnoses. I am passionate about promoting social justice and equity and carry these values into my relationship with clients. I am currently accepting new clients and provide psychotherapy specializing in evidence-based treatment for addiction, anxiety, complex trauma, as well as parenting support, for adolescents and adults.
I implement approaches that address client’s individual value systems and backgrounds. Among these approaches are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)-a structured, goal-oriented type of psychotherapy (talk therapy), motivational interviewing (MI)-clients determine their goals for change and own path for change and relational therapy-which promotes development of new ideas and thinking patterns about relationships and belief systems.

After setting a time for us to meet (either in-person or online), we will begin with an intake assessment to help evaluate for related diagnoses that may be impacting your well-being. The intake usually takes a an hour and half, and will inform us about symptoms you may be experiencing, what treatment goals you hope to set and basic background of experiences, belief systems and values that impact our treatment. We then met on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to begin focusing on treatment and care that brings about healing, skill building and distress tolerance that allows you to become the person you were meant to be.

Anything and everything! Treatment sessions are safe place to vent, process, heal and skill build while having our experiences and perspectives valued and validated. Judgements are left behind and focus is on how to look forward towards a hopeful, healing path. Sessions are usually 30-60 minutes, depending on what you feel will be helpful for your specific needs.

Yes, I am in-network with Aetna, Premera Blue Cross and Lifewise. I also currently allow for super bills for out-of-network insurance. This means that you will receive a receipt for your appointments and can then submit it to your insurance company for reimbursement of your bills. I also accept sliding scale payments for clients when applicable.
